POSH, the word that forever will be taken in same breath as Victoria Beckham was the also the sole factor of bringing this crooning damsel in limelight in the first place. Although she is now settled with the tag of being English football player David Beckham’s better half, she still seems to crop in people’s memory when they say SPICE GIRLS.
Born as an Adam which is her maiden name, Victoria descended upon this earth on 17 April 1974 in Hertfordshire. Coming from rather an affluent background, she was used to of matching steps with the rich and the famous. But one can say she was far removed from being a snob with her decision of not to go to her school, JasonTheatreSchool in Hoddesdon by her father’s Rolls Royce.
Upon turning 17, she joined the LaineArtsTheatreCollege in Epsom, Surrey, where she was associated with a college girl band. It was during this time only, when her passion for music came out in full force and she saw it as prospective career opportunity. And she soon got an opportunity as well to showcase her talent.
Career in Music
As soon as she completed her three year graduation she got a chance to sing and dance alongside four other girls upon responding to an ad taken out by the ‘The Stage’ magazine. Incidentally, Victoria was directly or indirectly in link with all her other band members.
(Victoria had met:
Emma who had been in a play with her when they were kids;
Geri while auditioning for a role in Tank Girl (1995);
Mel C. attended a rival school when they were 15; and
Mel B. at the audition for the forming of the band.)
And as fate would have it, the girl band called SPICE GIRLS, became an instant hit with the crowd and their debut album spice (1997) and song ‘wannabe’ ruled the charts for many weeks. This was followed by another album spiceworld (1997) and many hit tours making the girls as teen idols. It was such that two movies were also made on their lives, in which they stared as themselves only. Spice World: The Game (1998) and Spice World (1997).
But after five years of ruling the music charts, the girl band suffered a dent with Geri Hallwell leaving them in 1998. The band soon tried to recover with coming up with a new song, ‘forever’ (2000). But this sadly didn’t work out and soon the members drifted away.
Victoria at that time was dating David Beckham, the football league super hero whom she later married in Ireland after the birth of their first son, Brooklyn on 4th march 1999.
She soon launched herself as a solo singer and her single ‘Not Such An Innocent Girl’ reached number six, but couldn’t repeat the success of spice girls for her.
With the birth of her second son Romeo James Beckham, in 2002., her career to began to shape up and her song ‘This Groove/Let Your Head Go’ in January 2004 was number three in UK.
A third son, named Cruz Beckham in February 2005 led her to get herself a Herbrew tattoo depicting her family members on her back. Since then she has written an autobiography called 'Learning to Fly' and in 2006 she got involved in several other projects, including another book, 'That Extra Half An Inch' and DVB Style.Voted as the second best dressed woman by the Glamour magazine, this lady sure knows how to assemble together a rocking life.
